Rev. Carlos Lara Gabb, Guatemala, at Church on the Edge

Rev. Carlos Lara Gabb, pastor in the IENPG (National Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Guatemala), former Permanent Secretary (Stated Clerk) of the national church (2001-2006), will celebrate May 6th with the First Presbyterian Church on the Edge, 710 Undercliff Avenue and Sterling Place, Edgewater, NJ, 07020.  The Rev. Dr. Wanda Lundy, pastor, invites all to come share the day with Rev. Lara who is currently serving in the U.S. through the Presbyterian Mission to the U.S.A. Program.

Sharing with Rev. Lara will begin at 9:00am at a 'light breakfast'; at the 11 o'clock worship followed by a light lunch.  It has been eleven years since the Peace Accords were signed in Guatemala, bringing to an end four decades of severe repression, massacres and civil war. The life and witness of Archbishop Gerardi who was assasinated 04/24/98 48 hours after the REMHI report: GUATEMALA: NUNCA MAS  will be remembered.  Reflections will be shared on questions such as:     

                        What is the status today of Guatemalan society?         How are the churches and, what are they doing?     What are evidences of reconcilation?         As a mission person to the U.S. Pesbyterians from Guatemala through this Presbyterian Mission to the U.S.A. Program, what are observations of ministry to which this congregation may be challenged?     ........and more!
