General News

Come, now every woman, man, children of God to the Palm Sunday parade!  Rev. Wanda Lundy and the congregation invite all to share.  The 10:30am worship service will celebrate the Lord's Day with the Rosedale Youth Liturgical Dance Ensemble from Rosedale Presbyterian Church, Newark.   Bobby Watson, internationally renowned jazz saxophonist, will join with Curtis Lundy and the Spiritual Lights Jazz Trio.  The First Presbyterian Church on the Edge,  located at 710 Undercliff Avenue and Sterling Place, Edgewater, NJ, is a multi-cultural congregation.

Walking through the church year one began at the beginning.....in the beginning was the Word....Advent preparation was made for unwrapping God's most precious gift to the world....Jesus.  God sent the light of the world to brighten all darkness. All were invited to dance in the streets, cul de sacs, calles of Bethlehem throwing tinsel aside and decorating ones life with hope, joy, love.

Ephipany brought Magi like us on a journey to unlikely stables we know as the place where God reaches down to find us and lift us up to a borning of our own.  We are on our knees reaching for the gift of wholeness.  Then we join Jesus as he walks through the forty days of desert on his way with angels all around.  We, too, are angels one to another as 'we walk this lonesome valley' making choices to live so 'God may use me anywhere, anytime'.  Yet in community the burdens are lightened and the sorrows  soothed as a balm.   The palms are flung, the music is raised, the parade of Palm Sunday announces the journey through Holy Week when the darkness is burned into darkness and once more the earth will tremble.

Today...we celebrate Palm Sunday.     After church a light lunch will be served.  Come, every woman, man, child of God and celebrate!
