Long ago God made a promise to Abraham. Long ago God brought the people from Egypt to the land of the new covenant. Long ago Jesus was born in a stable, growing up with the Psalms as his prayerbook. Long ago Jesus walked among peoples on this planet. Long ago Jesus walked in the desert, the wilderness. Long ago Jesus was crucified to fulfill the scriptures and a new covenant was birthed. The women went to the tomb and found it empty. Jesus the Christ is Risen! The darkness is shattered, the grave clothes are thrown aside. The chains of death are broken proclaiming the Easter dawn, Christ is Risen! Stories of long ago are the affirmation of NOW, TODAY.......sunrise service will be celebrated at Veteran's Park, off RiverRoad, with folk gathering at 6:45 am. Curtis Lundy and the Spiritual Lights Jazz Trio participate in the weekly Sunday worship services of First Presbyterian Church on the Edge. Pastor Rev. Dr. Wanda M. Lundy and the folk of the congregation welcome all to share worship at the 10:30am services. Each woman, man, child is invited to worship knowing that when you leave, you won't be in the "same place of your being" as when you arrived..
There are prayers, singing, music, scripture, reflection by the pastor, shared concerns, invitations, receiving tithes and offerings. All are invited to share Communion each Sunday with the Table of our Lord and Saviour OPEN to all.
The congregation encourages folks to 'come as they are'. Perhaps that is weary and heavy , ladened; celebrating a newness in their life; searching for a healing, out of a routine, sharing a loss, remembering their 'other days', and more. One may encounter someone wearing a T-shirt that says, "These ARE my church clothes", or finest western suits or traditional clothing of their friends, families, or clothing of various places in our world representing prayers in themselves.
All are invited to share a light-lunch after the worship service. For more information: E-mail address: thechurchontheedge@nj.rr.com, phone 201.224.9116, 710 Undercliff Avenue at Sterling Place, Edgewater, NJ www.churchontheedge.us
